Wise Words
“If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient. It may be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”
Pooh
This is one of my favorite quotes.
You think that it is going to be some wise advise, but it actually is very practical and literal, just like Winnie the Pooh.
And there’s the wisdom.
Sometimes we complicate things, when in reality, the answer is quite simple.
Be patient.

Creating Experiences
I heard an interesting quote today,
“If you can’t change your company, change your company.”
Person who left the Boeing company
It makes sense. They had a difficult time feeling like they could make any significant changes in the company, so they left. And I could see why someone would think this is a good idea. I even think it probably is a good idea if you really feel powerless.
But…
My premise is that you have more power than you think. And the reason you can’t change things is because you don’t know how. You don’t know the strategies, or the fine details of how to start a movement of change within a corporation.
That is where I can help you. I may not have the silver bullet, but I think there is always hope. And ways to maneuver around the bureaucracy.
Life will find a way!

Nobody Cares (Except you)
The power is in networks.
I’m sure you’ve heard about the six degrees of separation theory, where we are connected to everyone in the world through an average of 6 levels of social connections. Apparently, it has been studied by mathematicians, psychologists, and social scientists for many years. They’ve conducted multiple experiments to test the theory, with debated results. At any rate, the world is smaller than you think, and our web of social connections are a powerful force.
It’s these networks that influence how change happens.
Because we’re influenced by people we know.
If you can get enough people in enough networks to do something, many others will follow.
We’re all connected.
Believe Enough
People don’t believe in things that are too much in the past or in the future. We are mostly focused on what we can see and prove in the here and now.
But your history is real. What you did to create the future that is today is proof that it makes a difference.
What if you could believe in the future enough to cause you to act a certain way now?
That’s called vision.
What’s your vision for your future self?
What are you doing to make it a reality?
Going to Work
Writing every day means you write when you don’t feel like it.
It means you write when you have nothing to say.
That’s part of being a professional. Sitting down and doing the work consistently, on schedule. Not waiting for the muse, or when it feels good.
You go to work every day.
It’s called The Practice.
I’m practicing.
And working here.
